John Hughes

- John Hughes, creator of 80’s classics such as The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles died today. The 59-year-old was out walking in New York when he suffered a heart attack. Hughes was also responsible for writing Home Alone, which grossed almost $500 million worldwide.

- Billboard has confirmed that Bob Dylan will be releasing a Christmas album this year. The album is apparently being reported at Jackson Browne’s home in Santa Monica, California. So far, four tracks have been confirmed. ‘Must Be Santa,’ ‘Here Comes Santa Claus,’ ‘Ill Be Home For Christmas’ and O Little Town of Bethlehem.’

- Pitchfork reports that Dave Grohl and Josh Homme have teamed up with Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones to form the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures. They play at Chicago’s Metro on Sunday August 9.

- Gomez have confirmed they are playing two New Zealand shows this October. They play The Bedford in Christchurch on October 16 and the Powerstation in Auckland on October 18. Tickets are on sale from August 10 via Ticketmaster.
