- Billboard reports that Michael Jackson’s ‘Number Ones’ album has sold 1.37 million copies, most of them since he has died, but its still not enough to surpass Taylor Swift. Swift, who has sold 1.5 million copies of her album ‘Fearless’ this year alone, makes her the biggest selling artist of the year so far. Since ‘Fearless’ was released last year it has sold 3.6 million copies. Close follow-ups in sales this year are Hannah Montana: The Movie with 1.33 million sold and Eminem’s ‘Relapse’ with 1.31 million sold.
- Willy DeVille, frontman of punk band Mink DeVille has died. The group, which earned success with their song ‘Spanish Stroll’, formed in the 70′s and Deville himself released his first solo album in 1987. Deville suffered from pancreatic cancer and was 58.
- Its been 40 years since the legendary cover picture for The Beatles ‘Abbey Road’ was taken. The photo, which was taken by the late Iain Macmillan was celebrated by dozens of Beatles fans who gathered at the crossing near Abbey Road studios.
