Vodafone announced today that they have officially inked a deal with Warner Music that allows them to sell music without any anti-piracy software. The deal means that Vodafone users will be able to use play downloaded music on any device including iPod’s.
Warner were the last of the four major labels which include Universal, EMI and Sony, to sign the deal. It’s been a long affair for Vodafone who announced their plans for this way back in March.
There hasn’t been an announcement of when the changes will take effect but Reuters say that the deal was made “in a bid to drive digital sales,” so it could be happening soon. In a article in the New Zealand Herald last year, Vodafone was the biggest seller of digital music singles in New Zealand.
