Black Eyed Peas Record "Quando Quando Quando" In NZ

EXCLUSIVE – Black Eyed Peas were in New Zealand recently and recorded a cover of Quando Quando Quando for the musical Nine, which singer Fergie also stars in. The group played a near sold-out show at the Vector Arena in Auckland on October 13 and in their downtime headed to Parnell’s York Street Studio to record the song.
It isn’t the first time the band has recorded material in New Zealand. On their last tour here, they also headed to York St Studio to work on new material. The classic song, Quando Quando Quando, was originally written by Alberto Testa and Tony Renis in the early 1960′s and was made famous by Engelbert Humperdinck. In 2005, Michael Buble teamed up with Nelly Furtado for a modern rendition of the song.
Fergie plays the character Saraghina in the film which comes out in December. Daniel Day-Lewis, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cottilard, Kate Hudson and Judi Dench are among the other stars that feature in the movie. The movie was directed by Rob Marshall, who directed Chicago, and Fergie was also made to gain weight for her role in the film.
It’s been an extremely successful year for the Black Eyed Peas. Their two singles, Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling, spent a combined 26 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. I Gotta Feeling has also been a huge success in New Zealand. It spent nine weeks at number one before being knocked off by Beyonce’s Sweet Dreams.
