RATM Beats Out Joe McElderry
With the d the e the f the i the a the n the c the e, Rage Against The Machine have beat out Joe McElderry for the number one spot on the UK charts. Their classic track Killing In The Name was part of a Facebook campaign to get RATM to the top of the UK singles chart for the Christmas week and RATM have said that they will play a free show in the UK in 2010 as well as donate some of the profits to the homeless charity, Shelter. The track was up against X Factor winner Joe McElderry and his cover of Miley Cyrus’ The Climb, which I’m way too scared to even hear considering the original wasn’t even that good. The interesting part here is that both RATM and Joe McElderry are both signed to labels that are all, ahem, part of a little something called Sony Music Entertainment. So, who is the real winner here? [Billboard]
