Bandicoot are getting more and more popular by the day — it could have something to do with the fact that red-headed vocalist Pearl McGlashan is the daughter of local legend Don McGlashan, or it could simply be the fact that the band are putting some much needed fun into the local scene in Auckland. They’re all 15, yet they put half of the bands I’ve caught recently to shame. They come off like a rougher, brattier little sibling to the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and for this show they covered The Mint Chicks Licking Letters and Snoop Dogg’s Drop It Like It’s Hot. They also have a new EP Jurassic Warfare which is out now (you can also download their Happy Talking EP for free right here). There’s titles on the record like Yr Art Degree Doesn’t Mean Shit and Eating Is Mainstream, so that should be reason enough to buy it, right?
