He developed a successful non-anaglyph 3D camera and projector using polarising filters - which could be used to make B+W and colour 3D films. The viewing spectacles were mass-produced by Carl Zeiss AG - the same company that now make Sony Corporation's SLR lenses! Credit where credit's due, eh? “Leading edge”? “way of the future”?
