Stream The New Album From The Roots "How I Got Over"

How I Got Over is The Roots ninth album and first since 2008′s warmly received Rising Down, which was pitched as being the bands last album. They soon moved into their stellar role as the official house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in early 2009 and soon after came the news that they were working on new material, which has resulted in How I Got Over. First impressions signal a slight distancing from the aggressiveness of their last albums Rising Down and Game Theory but their move into indie-rock collaboration territory shouldn’t deter anyone who understands their prerogative. There’s features from members of Dirty Projectors as well as the Monsters of Folk-borrowing Dear God 2.0 and the Joanna Newsom sampling Right On. Say what you will about these guys but they never run out of steam and they’re definitely not running out of ideas. Stream it via their MySpace page.
