Christopher Owens surprised a few by leaving his band Girls earlier this year — now he’s got an album worth of solo material he had written during his time in the band since 2008. He explains that the album tells “the story of a writer in a band who suddenly finds himself facing the reality of a first tour and everything that entailed”, more personal than a typical band story. He calls it “the most focused effort I’ve made musically,” and he isn’t kidding – every song is in the key of A and has an accompanying explanation to detail exactly what it’s about. Currently, you can stream ‘Lysandre’s Theme’ and ‘Here We Go’ on SoundCloud. There’s more info over at The Fader which is also worth checking out.
