Thought Creature’s latest EP Total Recall is out today via Crystal Magic Records. The four-song EP is the follow-up to 2008′s Teleport Palace, and this Friday the band will play the first of four release shows planned for the next couple of weeks.

Total Recall is available via Bandcamp as a ‘name your price’ download and the band also have a limited edition run of CD’s available to purchase there as well.

This Friday the band will also play as part of Cassette 9′s music month alongside So So Modern, Yolanda and H D S P N S.

We’ve already heard ‘We Can’t Be Beat’ and the title track from The Walkmen’s new album, out next week, and now we can hear the whole album thanks to NPR who are streaming it over on their website.

As Computer World point out, Spotify launched in New Zealand today with three subscription options.

“Spotify Free allows customers ad-supported access to the service on computers and smart phones, the $7.49 a month Spotify Unlimited gives ad-free access only computers only; while the $12.99 Spotify Premium gives ad-free access on mobiles, and also allows for offline listening.”

The streaming service currently has access to 16 million songs and they are also offering a free 30-day trial for their Premium plan. You can sign up here.

James Duncan’s new album Vanishing is out locally this Friday, and as we mentioned previously it features guests Tom Watson (Cassette, Lawrence Arabia), Don McGlashan, Sean Donnelly (SJD), Chris O’Connor (SJD), Dino Karlis (HDU), Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre) and Chelsea Jade (Teacups, Watercolours). Last Thursday the Audio Foundation hosted a discussion on New Zealand Music Month with panelists Joe Nunweek, Duncan Greive and Kiran Dass, with Gareth Shute moderating the conversation. They spoke on their memories of music month, what the benefits of the event are 12 years on and ultimately whether or not they think it’s worth keeping around.

Now signed to Arch Hill Records with their second album due out later this year, the Transistors have released their new video for ‘Abandoned’ directed by Levi Beamish and produced by Adam Thompson who recently worked on the video for Street Chant’s ‘Frail Girls’.
