Young Jeezy returns with his DJ Drama-assisted mixtape The Real Is Back 2. TM103 instores in two weeks! [via USDA-2-DAY]

Young Jeezy and Freddie Gibbs team up for ‘Do It For You’, the latest single from the forthcoming album TM103. Watch the video for it down below:

We should probably tell you right now that this is no Trap Or Die 2, a mixtape so ferocious that it’ll easily be regarded as one of the best of the year. Instead, we have Jeezy (in preparation for the highly anticipated Thug Motivation 103) taking on some of the most recognised — and let’s be honest, overused — beats from the past year. We’re talking Popular Demand, Roger That, Say Somethin’, Power and Hello Good Morning, except here there are crack references everywhere (‘Power’ is retitled ‘Powder’) and unfortunately, since every other rapper has already had a go at most of these tracks a long time ago, we’re left with what feels like a fill-in mixtape until the album is ready to drop.

One interesting thing to consider is the potential beef that is bubbly under the surface between Jeezy and Rick Ross, two rappers who couldn’t be more opposite. Ross’s struggle for authenticity is baffling, with references to a world that he has never lived in or a life that was never his (Teflon Don is scattered with references to Larry Hoover, Big Meech, John Gotti, MC Hammer etc). Jeezy, on the other hand, has built his career on authenticity and the struggle to become a worldwide star on his own merit. On 1000 Grams, Jeezy takes on Ross’s B.M.F and adds “How you blowin’ money fast? You don’t know the crew/Are you part of the fam?/Shit, I never knew.” To some, it was an obvious shot at Ross but Jeezy spoke to MTV claiming that it wasn’t the case. “What am I gonna get out of dissing him?” he said.

And then on Friday, Rick Ross dropped The Summas Mine, a song which has him obviously pretty riled up about something. “Bitch I run the south/I’m what you wanna be.” People are questioning whether this is this another subliminal diss or an no-target rhyme but either way, it’s stirring up something that could start to resemble the beginning’s of Ross’s beef with 50 Cent at the start of last year. If only wars were actually like this – the visuals for Rihanna and Young Jeezy’s soon to be everywhere new single is finally out. It’s enough to give Lady Gaga a little competition in the costume department and comes complete with apocalyptic themed Mickey Mouse military garb, a pink tank (to match her lipstick, of course) and a feature with Jeezy reminding us that he’s not planning on going anywhere soon. Plus, there’s that little screencap above. God knows why this wasn’t the first single but it looks like we may finally have the number one we were looking for. Hit the jump for the goods.
